Nairobi Traffic Commander Joshua Omukata has asked motorists and other roads users to avoid certain routes on Saturday because of the scheduled Diabetes Walk.

In a statement released to the media houses Uhuru Highway, Lang'ata Road, Haile Selassie Avenue, and Hospital Road are expected to remain closed from 6 am to Midday. 

The commander has asked motorists plying Lang’ata Road to use the Southern Bypass to join Mombasa Road to avoid being caught up traffic jams in the course of their journey. The motorists can then proceed to Lusaka, Jogoo and Landhies roads from where they can access the Central Business District (CDB)

"Motor vehicles towards CBD are advised to use Southern bypass to join Mombasa road and join Lusaka, Jogoo and Landhies road to avoid the event road. This applies to motor vehicles along Mombasa road to follow the same," reads the statement in part. 

The commander also said that the walk will affect Uhuru Highway. The highways will act as a single carriageway starting from Haile Selassie Avenue roundabout to Bunyala roundabout. Motorists from Ngong Road are advised to access CBD via Valley Road and Kenyatta Avenue.
