The incident was confirmed by Kaewa assistant chief Josphat Muli Mawia who told Hivisasa on phone that the reason why the man chose to end his life is still unknown but he had mental issues.

"At around 6 am, I received a call from one of the enumerators from my area, he told me he had discovered a body of one Peter Mutinda near his home where he was heading to count him," said Mawia.

He said the man was mentally unstable as reported by the family and he had been out of jail last month.

"No one should commit suicide no matter the reason. As for Mutinda he wasn't stable mentally, had been chasing away his family members and even threatening them," he said.

He urged families of the kin who is mentally unstable to ensure they keep track of him. This is in a bid to avoid such occurrences.

The assistant chief noted that police from Masinga Police Station came to the scene and took the body to Mbaki mortuary in Matuu for preservation.
