An Eldoret High Court on Monday directed that a suspect believed to have killed a police officer in Annex be subjected to a medical examination before prosecution.
This is after he allegedly tried to commit suicide by drinking poison.
The suspect, Joshua Ogachi, who was nabbed at the Rift Valley Provincial General Hospital in Nakuru on Friday where he had gone to seek medication after what the police believe is poisoning himself is accused of stabbing Robina Moraa in the stomach.
Moraa, a police officer attached to Naiberi Police Station was found murdered in her house in Annex on outskirts of Eldoret Town last Thursday.
When he appeared in court to face murder charges, Eldoret High Court Judge Grace Sitati directed that the suspect should undergo a medical examination to see if he is fit for prosecution.
“I now direct that Joshua Ogachi be taken to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital(MTRH) for medical examination before the case starts tomorrow, Tuesday,” said Lady Justice Sitati.
According to Uasin Gishu County Police Commander Johnston Ipara, the body of the deceased police officer had several stab wounds on the head and her body.
The body is being preserved at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret town.
