A section of politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto have lashed out at Central Organization of Trade Unions (COTU) boss Francis Atwoli over his latest remarks.
Speaking at the Bukhwala Church SDA in Khuisero, Sunday, Atwoli poked holes into the DP's 2022 presidential bid, cautioning him to stop wasting his time hunting the Luhya vote.
But former Vihiga governor Moses Akaranga has joined the politicians who have defended the DP, bashing Atwoli for attempting to dictate the region on how to vote.
He noted that the trade unionist is losing direction, which is watering down the respect he is enjoying in Western Kenya.
"We respect Atwoli as our leader but I can see that he is now losing direction. We are at liberty to support anybody we want the same way he does. That dictatorship should stop," he is quoted by the People Daily.
Soy lawmaker Caleb Kositany accused Atwoli of insulting the DP, noting that the fact that he took to the church to do the same makes it even worse.
The Jubilee Party Deputy Secretary General also faulted Atwoli for attacking Ruto in the full glare of respected church leaders.
"It is very unfortunate that Atwoli hurled insults to the Deputy president in front of respected church leaders . That to me is a total disrespect to God," he said.
Atwoli is not new to such, and is on record claiming that Ruto will not be even in the ballot in the first place come 2022.
