President Uhuru Kenyatta has announced several measures to combat cancer after the deaths of Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso and Kibra MP Ken Okoth.
Speaking in Sotik on Friday during Laboso's memorial service, President Uhuru said that his government will put in place several measures to ensure cancer is a thing of the past.
He said that the war against cancer cannot be won if leaders will not stand up together. He said that the government has plans to construct radiology centers in different parts of the country including Mombasa, Nakuru, and Garissa to ensure cases of cancer are reduced
“We will add three more radiology centers across the country. We will have one in Garissa, another one in Mombasa and the third one in Nakuru,” President Kenyatta announced.
“We will also have 10 more chemotherapy centers in Mombasa, Kisumu, Kakamega, Garissa, Nyeri, Nakuru, Meru and Machakos among other counties,” he continued, as quoted by Capital FM.
Uhuru, who is completing his second and final term in office also said that his government will continue supporting the family of the late governor during this moment of trial.
Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Amolo Odinga were among those who attended the event.
