A 39-year-old man who went into hiding after allegedly killing his wife at a salon in Molo, Nakuru County, has been arrested by the police.
John Ngige was arrested by Limuru DCI officers, led by their boss David Makonge while reportedly hiding at his uncle's home in Limuru town, after he allegedly killed his wife, Lucy Waithira.
Ngige had allegedly hacked his 35-year-old wife to death, using a machete last week at her salon in Molo town.
Limuru DCI officers handed over the suspect to their Molo counterparts who are investigating the murder.
The police were informed of Ngige’s whereabouts by his uncle, Peter Mugweru, on Tuesday, after the suspect arrived at his home on Monday evening.
Mugweru said Ngige was threatening to kill himself and attempted to commit suicide by jumping in front of a vehicle.
“When he told me that he was contemplating killing himself just like he killed his wife, I felt I should call the police before he commits suicide.”
“The day he arrived, he went to Kwambira area along the Nairobi-Nakuru highway, where he wanted to jump in front of a vehicle. We had a difficult time convincing him not to commit suicide,” said Mugweru as quoted by the Star.
Molo sub county police commander Isaac Odumbe said the suspect fled from the scene after slashing his wife in the neck.
