Addressing journalists on Saturday evening, Maanzo said that a lot of government projects have been stalled due to insufficient funds.

He said the National Assembly has allowed President Uhuru Kenyatta to borrow money but the Senate is yet to discuss the regulation.

"These projects will be lost if the money is not gotten fast," noted Maanzo.

Among the projects that may be affected as per the MP include Thwake dam which is under construction.

He said the work at the dam is only 30 per cent complete and will stall if no more money is wired in.

"In Thwake dam, the work is coming to a halt because those working there have not been paid. Also, the contractor has threatened to pull out of the project," said Maanzo who pointed out that Thwake is the only mega-dam that has survived so far and leaders should ensure it succeeds.

Once complete, the project is expected to provide clean water to people of Makueni, Kitui, Machakos and Kajiado counties when the water goes to Konza city.
