An accident that occurred on Wednesday night involving a North Rift shuttle vehicle and a truck at Kipkarren bridge along the Eldoret-Webuye road has left four people dead.
Reports from Nation indicate that two men and a woman died on the spot. The three were travelling from Eldoret in the North-Rift shuttle.
The driver of the shuttle died later on at Lumakanda Sub-County Hospital after sustaining serious injuries from the accident.
Seven other passengers were lucky to escape alive from the accident but they got serious injuries.
Lugari Sub-County Police Commander Patrick Maundu confirmed the accident.
The Police Commander explained that truck which was travelling to Eldoret hit the Matatu on the driver's side.
The driver of the truck had allegedly earlier on escaped but later on surrendered himself to the police.
"The truck and the matatu collided in the middle of the bridge. The driver of the truck fled from the scene but he later presented himself at the police station," Mr. Maundu explained.
Further reports from Nation indicate that there was yet again another accident on Thursday morning at at Amwonje trading centre that involved a truck which was carrying fuel.
"Police officers have been at the scene from 5am after the accident was reported to ensure members of the public to do not expose themselves to danger by going to the place to scoop the highly flammable fuel," Mr. Maundu stated on the Thursday morning accident.
