Speaking in Migori, the former Prime Minister asked the county's Ward Reps to reject the proposal.

He urged the lawmakers to wait for the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) so that they make their decision as far as the referendum is concerned.

“These issue of Punguza Mizigo, Punguza Punda we don’t know, we want Migori County Assembly to reject the bill once it is brought in the assembly for debate,” said Raila as quoted by Standard.

He said the leaders from the region will have messed up the government if they go against the handshake.

Odinga reminded the incumbent governor Okoth Obado to stand with other leaders to ensure the proposal is rejected to pave way for the BBI team.

Raila, who is considered one of the potential successors of President Uhuru Kenyatta, said he will continue supporting the current regime until the Big Four Agenda is achieved.
