Nyeri Town MP Ngunjiri Wambugu and members of the Kieleweke faction of the Jubilee Party are sowing hatred inside the Jubilee, former Makadara MP Benson Mutura has claimed.
Kieleweke consists Mt Kenya politicians allied to President Uhuru Kenyatta, but have been involved in wrangles with the rival Tangatanga group allied to Deputy President William Ruto.
Mutura claims that Kieleweke is emulating Ngunjiri, whom he claimed is importing hooliganism and hatred into Jubilee Party from the ODM party where he was initially a member.
He added that its time the group rejoined ODM instead of dividing the ruling side.
"The likes of Wambugu are from ODM and should go back. They are the ones bringing hatred into our party (Watu kama wakina Wambugu tunajua walitoka ODM na tunataka warudi kwao. Hawa ndio wanaleta chuki kwa Chama chetu)," he said.
The Jubilee member who lost to ODM's George Aladwa in the 2017 elections made the remarks on Radio Jambo's Mazungumzo Waziwazi show on Saturday morning.
He stressed on the need for the party to look into such cases the soonest possible, failure to which the problems emerging might end up flooring it in due time.
"Honestly our party has a problem but we must address it (Kusema kweli chama yetu iko na shida lakini lazima tutasuluhisha)," he added.
The remarks came only a day after nominated MP Maina Kamanda, another prominent member of Kieleweke, endorsed ODM's Imran Okoth for the Kibra parliamentary race.
On Wednesday, President Uhuru Kenyatta endorsed soccer star McDonald Mariga as the Jubilee candidate in the same race.
