Wiper Democratic Movement leader Kalonzo Musyoka is facing tough political times, political analyst Macharia Munene has said.
This comes amid reports that the former vice president is in alliance talks with Deputy President William Ruto, who has his eyes on the presidency in the looming 2022 polls.
Munene opined that Kalonzo is in danger of losing support in his Ukambani backyard, due to the rising rebellion by some top local politicians.
He also argued that the collapse of the National Super Alliance (NASA) has also weakened the veteran politician's support, rendering him an isolated man with an eroded backyard.
"Kalonzo is an isolated man. His backyard is being eroded," the History and International Relations University Professor told The Star on Thursday.
Munene's remarks come only days after Raila Odinga mobilised Ukambani governors to join the ODM campaigns in Kibra.
The trio; Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Charity Ngilu (Kitui) and Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) campaigned for ODM candidate Imran Okoth in Kibra on Sunday.
The Wiper party has however not fielded a candidate in the race.
