A statement from the AIU quoted by Citizen Digital points out that Munguti, a former African Youth Games 800m silver medallist, will be out of any competitions for a period of four years.

This is after she failed an out-of-competition doping test.

During the 2018 Youth Olympics held in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Munguti tested positive of a substance banned by the athletics unit.

AIU says samples from the athlete were found to contain Norandrosterone substance.

The four years of ban starts from October 2018 when she undertook the test.

More so, all titles, awards, medals, points and prizes the 1-year-old runner won after the test will be recalled.

This came as a huge blow to the athlete who might not present Kenya in any competitions until the end of the ban.

“The athlete signed a form by which she admitted the ADR, waived her right to a hearing and accepted the disqualification of her results obtained at the Olympic Games…,” read part of the statement as quoted by Citizen Digital

However, her ban is not permanent as she has a chance to appeal.

She became the 42nd Kenyan athlete to be banned over doping in this year.
