Confirming the strange incident, Nakuru County public health officer Samuel King'ori said that the county health department had launched investigations to know the source of the dead cows. King’ori said that they acted on tip -off from the members of public and raided the abattoir.

“We managed to nab one suspect who was behind the uninspected cows and he is helping with investigations,” said King’ori.

King’ori said that they are holding one suspect who is helping them with investigations.

This incident comes five days after four people died after consuming ‘mutura’ (African Sausage) at Kenlands area in Nakuru Town.

King’ori said that they have intensified operations in all butcheries and abattoirs to stem the sale of uninspected meat.

“It has come to my attention that uninspected meat is no sale and health officers will make sure the illegal trade is halted,” said King’ori.

He urged the public to cooperate with the health department to wipe out sale of uninspected meat to avoid unnecessary deaths.
