A 19-year-old form four student at Ulumbi Mixed Secondary School in Gem, Siaya County was on Friday found dead in Makaburini area in Yala Township.
The death is suspected to be have been sparked off by a love affair.
Police records at Yala Police Station under OB number 13/21/10/2016, confirmed the incident which also showed that the body was smelling alcohol at the time it was picked.
"That is what we have so far. We are doing further investigations," said Yala OCPD, Wambua Mutiso.
The body was taken to Yala Township Hospital mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
Brian Omondi's mother, Lilian Odhiambo said a neighbour informed her that the body of a boy suspected to be a student at Ulumbi Secondary School had been spotted at Makaburini area.
"I got concerned because that was about ten o'clock in the morning and I had not seen him yet he was also a student in the same school” Odhiambo explained.
"He was home the whole of Thursday which was Mashujaa Day. He is the one who prepared lunch for his three other siblings as I was away for the better part of the day. When I came back in the afternoon, he was still home."
Odhiambo said his son left her house at seven and did not tell her where he was going to.
"His phone call log shows that he called a girl the same evening that he disappeared only to be found dead the following day," said Odhiambo.
Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
