A teenager was on Friday imprisoned for 12 years by a Mombasa court after being found guilty of possessing explosives.
Wedo Idi Zuberi, 19, had been accused of illegally possessing two hand grenades when he was arrested by police officers.
Wedo was also facing charges of resisting arrest when the police found him with the explosives.
Prosecution told the court the accused was preparing to commit crimes when with the grenades he had.
Wedo was also being accused of being a member of the terror group, Al-Shabaab and being in possession of terrorism related materials.
Prosecution added that the accused was arrested at Mwembe Tayari stage in Mombasa County on January 12, 2013.
The accused had however, denied the charges before Mombasa Senior Principal Magistrate Richard Odenyo.
Magistrate Odenyo sentenced the accused to 12 years imprisonment saying the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.
Magistrate Odenyo however acquitted him of terror related charges such as being a member of Al Shabaab and possessing terrorism related materials.
