A 19-year-old woman was on Wednesday arraigned before a Nairobi Court to answer to charges of allegedly killing her husband.

Ms Bridgit Kemuma Nambane who is facing charges of manslaughter was being accused of allegedly causing the death of Mr Edward Magwaro.

The court heard that the accused person stabbed Mr Magwaro in the chest following a domestic dispute in their home.

The prosecution told the court that the accused person committed the crime on December 10 at Reuben Slums Industrial Area, Nairobi.

On the material date, the accused is alleged to have stabbed her husband following a struggle at their home after he came home drunk and asked for food.

The court heard that Ms Nambane, a mother of one, prepared the meal before returning to tend to her baby.

A confrontation ensued when Mr Magwaro accused his wife of neglect and demanded she sit with him and watch him eat and then the deceased threatened to kill the 19-year old wife with a knife.

During the confrontation, Ms Nambane overpowered his husband and snatched the knife, thrusting it into his chest.

Senior Principal Magistrate Martha Mutuku heard that Mr Magwaro was rushed to a hospital in Athi River but he succumbed to his injury while undergoing treatment.

The accused person denied the charges before the court and asked to be released on bail.

Magistrate Mutuku ordered a pre-bail report before it considers whether to grant release on bond terms.

The case will be mentioned on January 11, 2018.
