Betting firm Betway has resumed its operation in Kenya after the government embarked on a crackdown on betting firms across the country following tax evasions accusations.
Betway, whose license was revoked two months ago, has announced its resurgence after a long hiatus that saw some of its loyal clients contemplate quitting.
The firm has since obtained clearance from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) for licencing by Betting Control and Licencing Board (BCLB) to allow it embark on operations in the market.
The management had revealed that it was bound to resume operations in July but things didn’t work in its favour in the long run.
It becomes the 10th firm to comply with the government regulations after agreeing to pay their taxes on July 23, 2019.
The firm made the announcement on Wednesday through an official announcement on its page.
“We are BACK! Enjoy our new & improved 4 To Score, Win Boost & awesome new Money Back Boost! Remember, a 20% withholding tax will be applied to all winnings,” read the statement, as quoted by Standard.
Other firms that have already been cleared are Easi bet, Lucky to you, Bet boss, Kick off, Palms bet, Odi bet, Eastleigh bet, Ken bookmakers, Betika, Odibets and Mozolt Bet.
