Speaking on Sunday in Busia County, Ruto said that the claims by the second term governor are ridiculous, adding that he is not ready to engage in sideshows at the expense of development.

The DP said that the allegation that he intimidates the Maendeleo Chap Chap leaders are not only hilarious but also a non-issue.

"That man (Mutua) you heard complaining the other day that I greeted him and did what? (laughs). That I just greeted him and looked at him, he rushed to the police to report me. If he could have been greeted by this guy who is a potter he could go to report to the Hague!

( “Yule jamaa mwingine mliskia alilalamika juzi, ati nilimsalimia…ati nilifanya nini…(laughs)…ati nilimsalimia tu nikamwangalia, akakimbia kunishtaki kwa polisi. Kama angesalimiwa na huyu jamaa amekuwa akikoroga pot hapa si angekimbia Hague…” he said.

Mutua has recorded a statement with the police over claims that he was threatened by the DP.  He said that they had met at State House when the DP told him that he would deal with him.

He added that Ruto has not been impressed with his recent utterances. He also faulted Senate Majority leader Kipchumba Murkomen and National Assembly Leader Aden Duale for intimidating him.
