Kenya's Focus Beyond Imagination (FBI) Dance crew has emerged top ten in the Global Hip Hop International Competition in Phoenix, US.
The dance crew that traces its roots to Majengo slums in Nairobi was competing for the dance title with other veteran dancers from across the globe.
FBI was the only African group at the prestigious international dance competition.
The dance crew's participation at the global competition was supported by Deputy President Dr William Ruto and the Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB).
Spain won the dance competition with Russia and America taking second and third places respectively.
KFCB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Ezekiel Mutua on Monday sent a congratulatory message to the FBI dance crew for their great performance.
"We are so proud of you. You have lifted Kenya's flag at a global stage with pride and dignity, and without compromising our culture," Dr Mutua tweeted on Monday.
"The Board had facilitated the crew's travel arrangements to the US with the Deputy President Dr William Ruto giving personal support of One Million Kenya Shillings," he added.
KFCB is supporting the youth to exploit their talents, harness skills for job creation through various initiatives like the Sinema Mashinani.
The Sinema Mashinani is in line with the Manufacturing Pillar of the Big Four Agenda and seeks to take film to counties with the objective of creating job opportunities for the youth.
Nairobi Film Centre (formerly) Nairobi Cinema is a project under Sinema Mashinani and is a platform where young people are now showcasing their talents.
