The Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka has revealed that he is interested in becoming a Deputy President in the 2022 general elections.
Lusaka, however, added that he will only go for the position of the second in command if Deputy President William Ruto is elected the president.
Ken Lusaka who was the first governor of Bungoma county elected on a Jubilee Party appears to have already set his plan in motion by allying himself with DP Ruto.
According to Lusaka, he is preparing himself for the position in the event that DP Ruto decides to select a running mate from the Western region.
He has also factored in the possibility of being a Prime Minister and the recent changes that have been brought by the Building Bridges Initiative which requires one to first of all contest for a parliamentary seat after which the president will appoint the Prime Minister from the parliament.
"The way the BBI is you have to stand in an election in a constituency to go to parliament before you can be picked as a prime minister. For me if I was to chose, somebody came with all these, I would say I want to be Deputy President. You know it would mean going to Kimilili to be elected before coming to parliament again to be appointed by the president because again you are now at the mercy of the president," Lusaka said in a Tv Interview.
