The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has removed the name of Kenya National Union of Teachers (Knut) Secretary-General Wilson Sossion from its list of teachers.
On Friday, the commission also officially banned Sossion from teaching, amid an escalating row between the two parties, which has been running throughout this year.
In a gazette notice dated October 29, TSC boss Nancy Macharia said that Sossion, who was recently temporarily ousted from Knut leadership, will no longer teach in Kenya.
“Pursuant to section 30 of the TSC Act, the Commission has removed the name of the individual named hereunder (Sossion) from the Register of Teachers. Further, under the law, the individual cannot engage in teaching in any school,” reads the notice, as was seen by the Standard.
However, in response, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) nominated Member of Parliament dismissed the sane, saying that it does not affect his leadership at Knut.
The gazette notice comes shortly after the court allowed for the same, saying that his doubling up as a member of Parliament puts his fair representation of teachers under question.
Initially, Sossion blamed his woes on some top government players, especially after his opposition to the implementation of the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC).
