Former Nyamira County senator Kennedy Mong'are Okong'o has protested over continued insults being thrown at Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i by a section of politicians from Gusii region.
Addressing the press on Wednesday in Nyamira town, Okong'o wondered why Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose, North Mugirango MP Joash Nyamoko, Sylvanus Osoro of South Mugirango, Bobasi MP Innocent Obiri, Bonchari MP John Oyioka, West Mugirango MP Vincent Kemosi chose to discuss about Matiang'i on Monday at Ekerenyo and Rigoma when they hosted Deputy President William Ruto.
He termed the politicians desperate and ordered them to respect Matiang'i, a topmost government officer.
"It is sad that Matiang'i is being insulted with Maangi and MPs who does not even know how the Gusii community politics is played. I urge Maangi and MPs to accord Matiang'i respect," stated Okong'o.
The ex-senator said the MPs insulting Matiang'i will not help Deputy President get votes from the vote-rich Nyamira and Kisii Counties.
According to Okong'o, the legislators won't force DP Ruto on the people.
"The MPs must stop force Gusii people to accept DP Ruto ahead of 2022 polls. Insulting Matiang'i is causing disunity in the Gusii community," said Okong'o.
