For the better part of this year, Dr Ruto has been increasingly under pressure from both government and opposition, with both accusing him of frustrating the fight against corruption.

At Nyandarua on Saturday, a furious DP slammed his critics, arguing that nobody will intimidate him from executing his duties as Uhuru Kenyatta's principal assistant.

The DP said he's the only one who took the oath to help President Uhuru Kenyatta, remarks which seemingly targeted opposition leader Raila Odinga's relationship with Uhuru.

"Nobody else has sworn through the Bible that he will help Uhuru other than me. Am I not the one who swore at Kasarani that I will help the president? That the is the work I'll do and nobody will block me. No matter what they do, I'll do the job. I'll ensure Uhuru performs because we were given mandate together," he said.

According to him, the ongoing fight against corruption is selective, adding that the opposition and his critics have been blowing the alleged corruption scandals out of proportion.

“They are traversing the country propagating propaganda about corruption. That is malice. They want it to appear like the government is not performing and that there is a lot of corruption, you should ignore them.

"They should instead tell Kenyans what the government is doing and the achievements,” said the Mr Ruto.

Mr Odinga has been closely working with President Uhuru Kenyatta, a move that has never been backed by the DP. He believes that the wider plan is to frustrate his State House quest.
