Powerful Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr Fred Matiang'i will on Friday receive former Prime Minister and African Union High Representative for Infrastructural Development Raila Odinga in Gusii.
Mr Odinga and Dr Matiang'i are the high profile guests expected in the funeral of former Nyaribari Masaba MP Dr Hezron Manduku, who will be laid to rest in Nyanturago.
Dr Matiang'i and Odinga have lately been working together, with a number of analysts claiming that Odinga may back a Matiang'i presidency.
The two leaders last jointly visited Gusii in January when they ushered in President Uhuru Kenyatta, who was commissioning several development projects.
Gusii leaders, through Mr Odinga, last December also met President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House in Kisumu, where they presented various requests.
Mr Odinga is wudely popular in Nyamira and Kisii Counties, with records indicating that he has won the last three presidential polls from the region.
To tame Deputy President William Ruto, who is slowly making progress in the region, Dr Matiang'i has been funding a parallel team of pro-handshake to neutralise the activities.
Also expected in the funeral is Mombasa Governor Ali Joho, another confidant of Mr Odinga. The funeral service will start at 10am.
Dr Manduku served as MP for two terms. He died three weeks ago after a long battle with a disease. He's the proprietor of Hema Hospital.
