The woman, who hails from Garsen ended her one-year-old marriage after the man’s attempts to save the affair hit a dead end. The two presented themselves before Kadhi’s Court where the marriage was annulled.

The couple's differences have been linked to the woman’s dressing code. The man claims the way the woman dresses is against Islamic traditions. He also faulted her for not observing the daily routine prayers yet she expects to continue living with him.

While delivering his ruling, Garsen Kadhi Mursal Mohamed dissolved the marriage directing the woman to return two cows paid in the form of dowry and Sh50,000 the man had spent on their wedding.

In his two-page judgment, the Kadhi said that the decision was reached after the two proved that they cannot stay together anymore.

“On this basis, I thereby order that this marriage is dissolved on condition that the respondent should pay back two cows and Sh50,000 within 30 days and 40 days respectively from the date of judgment,” read part of the ruling.

The man was also ordered to pay Sh1000 per month for child support but she lamented that the amount is too little to take care of the needs of the kid.

The woman also denied the man’s allegations that she was wearing indecent clothes.
