On Thursday, the assembly debated the motion baring the Punguza Mizigo Bill as the subject. They reached a consensus that the initiative has no basis and will add no value to development at the grassroots.

Ongwae moments thereafter lauded MCAs for resoundingly reaching a decision to throw out the bill.

"Let me take this opportunity to thank the Kisii County Assembly for resoundingly giving their voice on the Punguza Mzigo Bill which was debated before the House today."

"I commend the honourable members for considering the Punguza Mizigo Bill as retrogressive, baseless, an affront to gender equity and a deliberate attempt to kill development at the grassroots. Indeed their arguments and consequent rejection of the Bill was factual and appreciated," part of his post on Facebook read.

Ongwae said efforts to amend the 2010 Constitution should be inclusive and involve all stakeholders.

"It is important that the Kenyan constitution be reviewed through concerted and consultative approach and Kenyans given an opportunity to freely ventilate on ways to improve on the 2010 constitution. I urge Kenyans to support the two initiatives; BBI and Ugatuzi that have taken the consultative approach and are driven by the spirit of inclusivity," he added.
