Corporal Nicholas Kemboi was nabbed on Friday over claims that he conspired with one Erick Oduor who has since been arrested and arraigned over car theft.

The officer was arrested while in the possession of the white car around Kabete on Friday evening and is set to be arraigned in court on Monday.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), he was nabbed by DCI detectives tracing the vehicle, which was found bearing a different number plate from its own.

According to the DCI, the officer who is attached to the Department of Defence in Hurlingham will be charged for contravening section 278A of the penal code.

“He [Kemboi] will be arraigned on Monday [August 5] to face charges of stealing a motor vehicle contrary to Section 278A of the Penal Code,” said the DCI in a tweet.

The directorate believes that the suspect engaged in the crime in collaboration with Oduor, who is out on bond, with the detectives concealing more details about the vehicle.

"Oduor had already been arrested and arraigned. He is currently out on bond,” added the DCI.
