Speaking on Monday at her backyard, Kihara said that the union between Uhuru and Ruto saved the country from post-election violence. She appealed to the President to stick to his word as far as supporting Ruto is concerned.

“Mimi nimetoka Naivasha. (I hail from Naivasha which was an epicentre of post-election violence and most of us almost landed in Hague. But when Uhuru joined hands with Ruto, they declared that there would be peace. You made a promise and you have not changed your mind They also said they would serve terms of 10 years each),” said the MP in part in a YouTube video shared by Daily Nation said in part.

Uhuru and Ruto reached a political pact in 2013 and won their first term in office before succeeding to be re-elected in the 2017 polls.

It had been widely expected that the President will return back the favour and support Ruto's presidency after serving for two terms.

It, however, remains to be seen if that will happen with fears that things might change after Uhuru entered into another political pact with ODM leader Raila Odinga through the handshake on March 9th 2018.
