In a post on Facebook on Wednesday, Sonko, however, said he rejected the attempts.

He said that the attempts were made by individuals he described as fake debtors who he claimed lined up to give him 10 per cent of Sh64 billion said to have been owed to debtors.

''If at all I wanted to enrich myself from the public confers I could have done so when I was dealing with the 64 Billion pending bills which I inherited from the previous administration. Guys were lining up with 10% upfront kickbacks meaning in the first 2 years in office I could have made 6.4B in kick backs, an equivalent of 10% cash amount for the said 64B pending bills. But I decided to put public interest and service delivery to Nairobians first by refusing to side with fake debtors who were out to swindle the county billions of shillings, '' the governor's post read in part.

The Nairobi county boss was ordered by a court of law hearing his case not to step into his office until his case is heard an determined.

He is facing several graft related charges

Sonko has long protested his innocence, saying that the charges are politically motivated.
