The suspects were arrested for allegedly extorting money from a victim. The money which was allegedly recovered amounted to Sh1 million.

Reports from The Standard indicate that the Sh1 million was deposited from Sh17.5 million that they had initially asked from the victim in order to pull down an article from a website that is believed to be managed by one of the two suspects.

According to a lawyer, the parties in the case may have reached an agreement to settle the matter out of court. This was however not the first time that Nyakundi was being named in such controversy.

He was sued by Steve Mbogo, a politician, in 2018 for allegedly publishing slanderous content. Mbogo argued that Nyakundi did not have any rights to publish the information since there was no supporting evidence.

Mbogo together with his wife demanded Nyakundi to be directed by the court to delete the article containing the contents. The blogger consequently received an injunction against publishing the alleged story.

“An injunction was issued restraining the respondent from publishing defamatory words against the applicant,” Justice Jackie Kamau ruled in the case.
