Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale has said that Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i should know that he landed his current job because of both President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
Speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Monday morning, Khalwale said that there is no way Matiang’i can serve President Uhuru and sideline DP Ruto in the administration of his duties.
The politician said that the CS is losing the point if he continues marking unexpected remarks as he did on Friday in Kirinyaga where he attended a fundraiser.
“I think the CS Interior should also find time to count his blessings… Matiang’i should know that he was created by William Ruto and Uhuru Kenyatta," he said.
During his speech in Kirinyaga, Matiang'i said that he will not allow anyone to intimidate his PS Karanja Kibicho. The CS went on to dismiss claims that he has been frustrating the second in command.
“I take full responsibility for any action by the security team, never touch my PS, don’t blame him for any political problem within and without Government. Kenya has only one president – Uhuru Kenyatta – who we receive instructions from. Any action taken by the security personnel is as a result of a presidential directive,” said Matiang’i, as quoted by K24.
The sentiments of the CS have not augured well with DP Ruto's camp. On Saturday, Ruto urged government officials not to chest thumb themselves.
