Jubilee Party Secretary-General Raphael Tuju has made it clear that he is not eyeing the Siaya gubernatorial seat in the fast-approaching 2022 general elections.
Tuju had been touted to be eyeing the seat with critics saying that it could be the reason for his dalliance with Raila Odinga.
This is after Tuju was seen in the company of Raila in Siaya earlier in the year, ending years of political enmity, coming months after Raila's truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
In an interview on Citizen TV on Tuesday night, he made it clear that he will not be on the ballot, adding that he is not interested in the seat at all.
"No, of course not," he told the host, Hussein Mohammed.
He also explained his remarks on the alleged leaked phone conversation with former Limuru MP George Nyanja where he was heard saying that he will be lying low until 2021.
He said that his comment was in the political context, adding that he is of the position that politicians with interest in the 2022 poll should wait for the right time to begin politicking.
"At this particular moment and time, everybody knows that the elections will be in 2022. If any of us is serious about any political post, I think its political manners to wait at least until 2021," he added.
The Cabinet Secretary without portfolio has for years been considered unwanted in Siaya for always being on the opposite side with Raila.
