Former Kathiani Member of Parliament Wavinya Ndeti took offence with remarks made by former Prime Minister Raila Odinga about members of Kamba community on Saturday.
Speaking when he met Kambas living in Kibra, Raila said he was glad they had pledged their support for ODM candidate Imran Okoth, adding he was assured they will not back down on their promise.
"Wakamba ni waaminifu kama akina mama. Wakisema wanakupatia wanakupatia (Kambas are loyal and are like women. When they say they will give you, they will keep their word)" the ODM boss stated amidst laughs from the crowd.
The sentiments, however, did not go well with Ndeti who accused the veteran opposition politician of disrespecting members of the Kamba community and taking them for granted.
"Baba I'm very disappointed with your statement. Kambas are patient and loyal but we will not be taken for granted under any circumstance. We supported you for 10 years and you should respect my community," she tweeted on Sunday.
Ndeti, who vied for Machakos Governor's seat in 2017, referred to the support the Kamba community gave Raila in the last two general elections.
In 2013 and 2017 polls, the ODM boss vied for the presidency and was deputised by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who is the political kingpin of the Ukambani region.
The meeting between Raila and Kambas was led by Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua and his Kitui counterpart Charity Ngilu.
The two county bosses vowed to rally the community behind Imran in his bid to become Kibra's next legislator.
