Residents of Bahati Constituency have nothing to smile about since President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto were re-elected into office, area MP Kimani Ngunjiri has said.
Speaking in Nakuru Town on Friday, Ngunjiri said that the Jubilee government has not initiated most of the projects it promised the residents.
He accused the President Kenyatta-led government of sidelining his people despite the immense support they accorded them when they were seeking reelection into office.
Ngunjiri, who is one of the closest allies of Deputy President William Ruto, said that Bahati is among the areas where Uhuru garnered most votes but now they have been left out of development projects.
He asked the government to reconsider them in everything they do for the sake of their support.
“Bahati constituency was number one in voting for Jubilee administration with an overwhelmingly 82 per cent endorsement yet most of the roads are not tarmacked. Development here is zero,” said the Bahati MP.
He also said that the Jubilee government had promised to construct dams in the area but nothing was forthcoming.
He added that the empty promises have made the people lose faith in the government noting that the residents of the region have no reason to support Building Bridges Initiatives (BBI) unless their plight is addressed.
