Former Kerio Valley Development Authority (KVDA) Managing Director David Kimosop has been arrested.
Kimosop was arrested on Friday morning at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) shortly after arriving from Tanzania.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) confirmed the arrest, adding that Kimosop is currently being held pending his arraignment in court.
"Mr David Kipchumba Kimosop the Managing Director of KVDA who is wanted in connection with Corruption charges relating to Arror and Kimwarer Dams Scam was early today arrested at JKIA on arrival from Tanzania following a STOP order placed by DCI Detectives. He is currently in lawful custody awaiting arraignment," DCI posted on Facebook.
Kimosop is among senior government officials that the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) ordered to be arrested over the loss of billions in the Arror and Kimwarer dams project.
According to the DPP, KVDA did not follow the set procurement laws leading to loss of public funds.
"KVDA management failed to comply with the principle of value for money which demands that there be competition amongst suppliers, efficiency and effectiveness in the procurement process, fairness and non-discrimination, integrity, transparency and accountability,” the DPP said as quoted by Citizen Digital.
