Over 50 people lost their lives, hundreds others displaced, and property of unknown value destroyed during the landslide.

Speaking to the press in Eldoret town on Thursday, NOREB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Dominic Biwott said support from well-wishers will go a long way in helping the victims resume their daily activities.

“As members of NOREB, first of all, we are sending a message of condolence to the affected. We are calling on well-wishers, donors, organizations, and individuals to assist the people in West Pokot with the little thing you have,” he said.

Dr Biwott said well-wishers can donate clothes, food, blankets among others, which will be channeled to West Pokot.

“Foodstuff, drinking water, clothing items, toiletries, beddings, and any other material support can be dropped off at our offices on the 2nd floor of KVDA Plaza, Eldoret Call 0715338778 or 0720780306 for more directions and any other information,” he added.

The NOREB boss applauded Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago for sending nurses and road construction equipment to help those affected in the landslide, calling on other counties to follow suit.

Dr Biwott spoke after meeting CEC’s from the NOREB region in Eldoret town.
