Kenyans all over the world celebrated Jamhuri Day on Thursday, 12 December, 2019. There are many things witnessed that caught the eyes of Kenyans.
However, a video emerged of the Kenyan flag lighting brightly on the famous Burj Khalifa Tower in Dubai.
This made many of them happy as they shared the video on their various social media platforms. However, what many didn't know is the amount paid for the Kenyan flag to be lighted on this iconic building.
According to reports on Arab Business website, an advert lighted on Burj Khalifa attracts a minimum of Sh. 6.9 millions.
”The cost to place a promotional advert or message on the façade of the Burj Khalifa starts from AED250,000 (Ksh 6.9 million) for a single three-minute display, according to the marketing agency which manages the lighting displays,” revealed as quoted by Arab Business.
President Uhuru Kenyatta led the nation in celebrating Jamhuri Day at Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi. This was Kenya's 56th Jamhuri Day since independence.
The event was graced by Prime Minister of Barbados, the Rt. Hon. Mia Mottley, who was the guest of honour.
Other high profile figures to attend include deputy president William Ruto, Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders Raila Odinga Kenyan leaders and diplomats in the country.
