The Nairobi County Assembly clerk Jacob Ngwele has been suspended by reinstated Speaker Beatrice Elachi on the grounds of desertion of duties.
Tuko reports that on Thursday, members of the county assembly board chaired by Elachi had agreed to give compulsory leave to Ngwele to give time and space into the investigation of his conduct.
"The board has agreed to give our clerk Jacob Ngwele a compulsory leave of 30 days for missing board meetings and absconding his duties as enshrined in the constitution," said Elachi as quoted by Tuko.
Ngwele, who is allegedly fond of missing board meetings was given a one-month suspension with full pay.
The county assembly speaker stated that if he is found guilty, legal action will be taken against him.
"The board, therefore, directs the clerk to refrain from stepping at the assembly precinct for a period of one month until the investigation is complete, we shall notify him on his comeback,’’ Elachi stated.
It is also alleged that the clerk was against Elachi's reinstation by the court and also incites the members to boycott board meetings since he is not comfortable with the speaker.
The clerk took the matter to court and his suspension will not be effected until the petition is heard.
