Kitutu Chache South MP Richard Onyonka has said that it is too early for politicians to talk about who will succeed Kisii Governor James Ongwae in 2022.
Onyonka who is expected to run for the gubernatorial seat in the county in 2022 appealed to politicians especially those in the office to focus on service delivery before talking about 2022 succession.
"This is not the right time we should be talking about 2022 succession in the county. As leaders, we must concentrate on service delivery to improve the lives of our people and eradication of poverty before talking succession politics," said Onyonka on Radio Citizen Wednesday morning.
The vocal legislator allied to Ford Kenya Party reiterated the need for elected leaders in Kisii to unite ahead of the 2022 polls arguing that leaders should be role models.
Onyonka opined that Kisii residents will elect the next governor of their choice in 2022.
"I'm sure no one will impose himself or herself on the people of Kisii in 2022 because the electorate will only vote for the next governor through the ballot. For now, let leaders give Governor James Ongwae time to deliver his promises," noted Onyonka.
