Kisumu Water and Sanitation Company (KIWASCO) has promised a section of the Lakeside City residents that the broken sewer lines passing through river Kisat will be repaired in two days’ time.
Speaking to the press on Monday in Kisumu, the head of Technical Services Eng Moses Jura said they are aware of the problem that occurred at Kisat Bridge which supplies water to Bandani residents.
He explained that last week’s heavy downpour damaged the sewer and water pipes.
“We know the problem which occurred at Kisat Bridge which supplies water to Bandani. Last week Tuesday, the heavy rains witnessed destroyed the sewerage and water pipes but we have managed to repair that of water,” said Jura.
Jura added that they are in the process of ensuring the sewer pipe is repaired in two days starting Monday.
“We are sorry for the damage caused so far but we are giving it two days’ timeline starting from today,” he added.
Jura noted that the heavy downpour swept garbage which led to the breakage of sewer and water pipes.
He said the pipes the Kisumu Water and Sanitation Company are going to use are made of asbestos, urging residents not to steal them.
“Our pipes are made of asbestos so I urge you not to steal them, people like stealing GI pipes and meters,” Jura urged.
