Residents of Ekerore in Kisii County were on Sunday left in a rude shock after a 29-year-old woman hanged herself under unclear circumstances.
Teresa Moraa said his daughter Divinah returned home on Saturday evening and told her that she wanted to kill herself.
"Divinah's death has left us in shock because she has been social to everyone. We are yet to understand why she decided to terminate her life prematurely," said Moraa as reported by Egesa FM.
Kisii County Commissioner Godfrey Kigochi confirmed the incident saying no one among the family members had differences with the deceased.
He noted that the deceased separated with her husband 3 years ago and she has been living at her parents' home.
The body of the deceased was moved to Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital morgue by police officers
"Probe has commenced to establish why Divinah committed suicide since she did not leave a suicide note behind. I encourage residents to seek guidance whenever they are faced with difficulties in life so that cases related to suicide can be zero," noted the county police boss.
He also appealed to church leaders to pray for residents for the sake of driving away evil spirits leading them to commit suicide.
