After his unsuccessful bid for Nairobi Governor seat during the 2017 general election, controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna swiftly rejoined ODM, the party he left in the run to the 2013 election after a bitter fallout with then Prime Minister Raila Odinga.

Dr Miguna would later become an influential figure within the NASA coalition and when the National Resistance Movement was formed, the fiery lawyer declared himself as the new NRM General.

It has now emerged that Dr Miguna's decision to rejoin Raila's camp was made after meeting the former Prime Minister's aide, Silas Jakakimba, in his Runda home.

In a post on his Facebook page, Jakakimba claims that he visited Dr Miguna in his home and convinced him to return to ODM.

"  On 6th September 2017, I had a one-on-one with Double M at his Runda residence. It was a fairly deep discussion that led to his re-joining that larger opposition ranks," he posted.

Dr Miguna would later play a major role in the NASA coalition that culminated in the mock swearing-in of Raila Odinga as "people's President", move that sealed Miguna's fate as he was deported to Canada.

While rooting for Miguna's return to the country, Jakakimba said that despite the lawyer's harsh online criticism of the government, he remains a Kenyan and that the government should sort out his travel issues.

Dr Miguna's latest unsuccessful return has seen him blocked by both Lufthansa airline and Air France over alleged instructions from the government of Kenya.
