It is good news to Kenyans as they prepare to travel to their various holiday destinations this festive season.
This is after the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) announced a decrease in the prices of petroleum products for the next month.
Starting at midnight Saturday, the super petrol price will reduce by Sh1.09, kerosene down by Sh1.75 and diesel has also been decreased by Sh2.83 across the country.
“Super petrol, diesel and kerosene will now retail at Ksh109.50, Ksh101.78 and Ksh102.31 respectively in Nairobi starting midnight,” read the statement from EPRA quoted by the Star.
This prices will be effected from Sunday 15, 2019 to January 14, 2020 countrywide.
The new pump prices are inclusive of Value-added Tax (VAT) in accordance to the Finance Act 2018 and the revised rates for excise duty provided by Legal Notice No.109 of July 9, 2019.
The regulator said that the purpose of this move is to ensure that the consumers buy fuel at reasonable prices.
It further stated that it will continue to protect investors and consumers in the energy sector.
