Arthritis is characterized by increased joint inflammation. The symptoms can either occur suddenly or after a prolonged period of time.
The disease does not necessarily affect the older people only but it cuts across all age groups.
Here are the signs and symptoms of arthritis no one should ignore;
1. Joint pain
The inflammation of the joint makes it more tender and painful. The joint pain is a common sign of arthritis and it mostly ranges from the knees, shoulders, waist, wrists, and the fingers.
It might, however, spread to nearby tissues making almost the whole body painful while at rest or during movement. This, in turn, decreases the rate of movement and participation in daily activities.
2. Joint stiffness
A feeling of a stiff joint is a common early sign of arthritis. The stiffness can occur at any time or day whether a person is engaged in a certain task or not. It can last a few minutes and reoccur after a couple of days. Persistent joint stiffness needs immediate medical attention to ascertain the exact condition.
3. Numbness and tingling
Persistent burning sensation especially in the joints due to pressed tendons and nerves resulting from the inflammation of the joints is a situation that requires immediate medical attention as it is one of the symptoms of arthritis.
