The move targets planting one thousand trees in Kamwangi District.

Area MP Francis Kigo Njenga attended the event where also planted a commemorative eucalyptus tree at the same venue.

The commissioner urged the residents to take advantage of the heavy rains in the country to plant trees that will help improve the environment in the future.

“This is just a start and a lead to all residents. As we remember our workers who contribute heavily in building our economy, let’s focus on transforming our agriculture by use of modern methods,” added Nyamiti.

Kigo urged the government to look for mechanisms of rescuing Narok residents who are dying from the heavy rains that has left nine die and other five in hospital.

“It is the duty of the government to cater for unexpected natural calamities. Narok deaths are in future preventable if the drainage system of that county is addressed. I urge the county government of Narok in conjunction with the national government to look for means of storing the rain water and improving the drainage of the area to avert more deaths,” said Kigo.

Those who attended the event received umbrellas and also planted more than one hundred trees while the others were planted at the Riabai tree garden.
