2 men among them the driver met their fate on Sunday afternoon while 3 others are nursing injuries at the Thika Level 5 Hospital after a road accident which occurred along the Thika-Garissa road past Ngoliba shopping center.

It is believed that a saloon car that was speeding from Yatta lost control after the Ngoliba traffic police inspection area and veered off the road just to land on a bush near River Muthuga.

According to an eye witness Mr. Christopher Njuguna, the vehicle had 5 passengers on board and after the accident only 2 were in the vehicle as the others found their way out through the open windows.

It took the residents and police over 30 minutes to retrieve the bodies from the bushes and rush the injured to the hospital before the deceased were ferried to General Kago morgue in Thika town.

Confirming the incident, Thika sub-county Traffic Police Base Commander William Uhuru said that he received the information from patrol police who said the vehicle was speeding when it lost control and killed the 2 on the spot.

The officer called on motorists to take caution while driving or riding reminding them that carelessness and speeding has been the major cause of most accidents in the area.

He further called for calmness on the roads this festive season saying that they are doing all they can to prevent more deaths from happening in the area.

The vehicle was later towed to Makongeni police station.
