Two people died on the spot this morning and four injured when a truck and a lorry were involved in an accident at Malili, Machakos County.
The accident which occurred at 6:30am caused heavy traffic on the busy Nairobi-Mombasa road.
The OCPD for Mukaa Sub County Ferdinard Nyongesa confirmed the accident and urged road users to be careful while driving in busy highways and at areas designated as black spots.
After the accident, the Machakos County ambulances arrived at the scene on time and rushed four victims who were seriously injured to the Machakos level 5 hospital.
Nyongesa blamed truck drivers for their careless driving saying that many of the drivers are not adhering to traffic rules. The lorry driver and his tout died on the spot while those in the truck were seriously injured.
He added that the accident was as a result of speeding and reckless driving.
The residents helped in giving the victims in getting them out of wreckage and administering first aid to the victims.
The bodies of the victims were taken to Machakos Level Five mortuary.
