Police on Friday killed two suspected robbers who allegedly tried to steal at a funeral attended by President Uhuru Kenyatta in Karen.

The two are said to have parked their car in the parking bay at the funeral of Rev John Gatu before they started stealing valuables from other cars.

When police were alerted, they got the two red-handed.

The robbers are said to have started a run using their car as police pursued them.

"They escaped with their car as police followed them. They then entered a road in the estate that led them to a dead end," said Karen OCPD Suiyanka Cunningham.

On realising they had been cornered, they started firing at the police officers.

This prompted the police to open fire, killing the suspects on the spot.
