Two people died and 15 others were on Wednesday evening injured after a Nissan matatu they were travelling in was involved in a road accident at Nyamaiya area along Nyamira – Miruka road.

Nyamira OCPD Riko Ngare confirmed the incident and said the 15 passengers were on their way to Miruka when the accident occurred. 

The OCPD said the driver of the matatu lost control and the matatu overturned killing 2 on spot and injuring others.

Ngare said the injuries were rushed to Nyamira Referral Hospital for treatment and bodies of the deceased was taken to the same hospital's mortuary.
