Two men exchanged blows following a disagreement on who should inherit a woman whose husband died three months.
The incident happened on Tuesday at Kenyamware village, Magombo in Manga ward, Nyamira County.
It is alleged that trouble started when one of the man identified as Oroo arrived at the woman’s house and found the other man identified as Orina with the woman by the name Mbesa in bed having sex.
“Mbesa’s husband died 3 months ago after a short illness. Orina and Oroo are close friends and have been visiting the widow at the home with an intention to inherit her.
"Oroo came to the home to check on the woman when he found Orina in bed with the woman naked enjoying sex,” said Jackline Mokora, a witness.
Mrs. Mokora said Oroo was angered seeing the two in bed he started beating the woman but Orina kicked him out saying he is the rightful person who should inherit her.
“The two men exchanged blows outside the house as we watched them in broad day light until Nyumba Kumi officials arrived and asked them to stop fighting.
"Mbesa said Oroo has been forcing her to sleep with him but she refused because she already loves Orina,” added Mokora.
Nyumba Kumi officials led by Simon Ondari condemned the incident and said the woman should be given a chance to mourn her late husband before the men can start planning to inherit her.
